So, after my final paper on the 8th of June, I wasn't able to kick back and enjoy instantly. That was because all of us 1.5 year students were ordered to move to Tangga 10, as Tannga 9 will become girl's residence when the juniors come in. This was my third time moving, which would be equivalent to moving to a new apartment, EVERY SEMESTER! I moved into 10-2-A2 with new housemates Henry, Fabian and Ian, who are all from East Malaysia. Dad and Mum came by and helped with the moving as well. They stayed at Empress Hotel nearby after touching down from Laos the previous night.
After I finished my moving, I attended the farewell party for the one year students, organised by their Bio lecturer, Mdm. Salina. I was the only 1.5 year student in there, owing to my close friendships with most of them, and Mdm did not fail to acknowledge my presence among them. Haha. After snapping a few pics and chatting round, I went to KLIA together with my parents to board my 1930 flight back to Sibu, albeit with a heavy heart, as I knew that would be the very last time I will see all of them together in KTT.
We all reached Sibu at about 2130, where my aunt came to pick all of us up. It was my first time back home in two months, but for the rest, they have not been in Sibu since the Chinese New Year holidays! Now I realise how fortunate I am. Haha.
So the next day, I set out to do what I've been wanting to do for months. Going to the GYM! Hurrah! Nothing gets me more excited than the smell of iron, sweat and testosterone in the afternoon. After my session, I barely had enough strength left to even change my shirt! And my muscles ached the next day like I was a first timer in the gym. Yeah, I was pretty out of shape, after having doing close to zero workouts since my CNY sem break. But like all gym rats know, with pain comes growth, and my guns were looking just as well as they did at their best, so I guess the pain that comes after is definitely worth it. Haha. I did two more session throughout the holidays, once again on the following Monday and the final time on Friday with Howe.
Besides working out my muscles, I've been working on my shot, and it's good to say that I've got my groove back. Haha. I know some of you might wanna belittle me by saying I'm just playing round, but for a person who takes the game as seriously as me, I see that as work. Haha. Just a pity that I never got the chance to play a game with my friends at all, which was something I was looking forward to also.
Talking bout basketball, thank God that the NBA Finals was played more than 4 games, as I got the opportunity to catch the final two games from the comfort of my house. This year's Finals featured some of the best finals games I've watched ever, as most of them are only decided with a few minutes left in the fourth. I could still remember the Mavs, hitting big three pointers after each big three pointers to put the game out of reach in the fourth druing Game 5, and also Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki, who hit shots after shots that I deem as unorthodox or ugly or horrible, as if he was wide open all the time! This year's Finals show that teamwork is above star power when it comes to winning championships. Well earned victory for the Dallas Mavericks!
Of course, how can "eating" not be a part of my holidays? I spent a good chunk of time eating, A LOT. Be it homecooked, or local delicacies, there was not a minute where my stomach was growling, unlike in college, where edible food is scarce. Haha. Best thing is I got to lay my hands on food which I have not savored for months upon months, such as Cafe-Cafe's creamy banana pancake, and Rafie Cafe's roti telur.
And, to cap it off, on the very last day of my holidays, I set out to bake an apple pie! Finally, after all these months! During the baking process, my mom was doubting if the pie could be finished (due to some alleged problems with the crust), but I persevered til the end, and aside from the looks, I'd say this pie was perfect (which I think, is just like what I've been through, being doubted my whole life and in the end proving them wrong)! But next time I'm never taking recipes from the net though.
Think that pretty much concludes my sem break. And these are mostly what I do during other sem breaks so don't expect me to post something describing my subsequent sem breaks next time. Hahaha
