My Experience With SPM

My God, time does fly really fast. This time a month ago, we were all shitting in our pants awaiting the arrival of SPM about 10 days later. Well, fast forward to the present, I'm a free man already. SPM is over, and I'm glad that I don't have to touch any reference books for quite a while.

I recall and do admit that even during November, I was not in full-time study mode yet. I was still fooling around with computers and the television while others were using whatever time they could to do revision (anyone here study while having meals, or going to the toilet? Haha). As the date for the exam drew nearer, I tried to do revision as hard as I could but my mind wasn't focused totally on my studies. It wasn't easy for me to put all those facts into my brain by glancing through the notes.

Then, the 18th of November arrived all of a sudden. Every morning, we were quarantined in the school hall before going to the exam rooms. In the hall, everyone tried their best to cram whatever information they could into their brains. Before going to sit for the first paper for each day, usually our principal will pray for us (how thoughtful of him). After the first paper we will normally have a 45 minute break before continuing with the second paper for the day. On some days, we had to come back in the afternoon to sit for more papers. I never liked taking exams in the afternoon as that was the time I usually took a nap, so I would feel quite sleepy and be unable to do those afternoon papers in a good form. For example, history paper 2. That afternoon was so damn hot, even the fans in the room were useless as they only helped to circulate the hot air around more. The questions were actually quite easy, only I could've done better if I wasn't sleepy and the weather wasn't so hot.

Then, it was mostly smooth sailing for other subjects, until I encountered : ACCOUNT PAPER 2.
This was the mother of all the tough papers I took. I thought that I would be fully prepared for this paper as the months before I worked my ass off for this subject, going to tuition three times a week(!). When I saw question 2(a), I immediately knew that I was in trouble, as that was a format I never learned before. I also faced problems with question 3 and 5 (should've done question 6) although I know the exact formats. I spent most of the time in my seat, scratching my head and trying to come out with plausible ways and answers. Eventually, I ran out of time and passed up the paper with answers that I knew were certainly wrong for questions 2, 3 and 5. ARGH I FEEL LIKE KILLING WHOEVER SET THOSE QUESTIONS!!!

All of a sudden, it was the 8th of December already. The exam ended officially for me at 1530 hours. Strangely, I don't feel over excited for completing the exam, but hey, at least I don't need to do revisions for quite a while.

Sadly, the completion of SPM also means the completion of my five years in secondary school. It was in secondary school where I had lots of fun and learned many new things, formally in class, and informally with my friends. I also collected many memories, pleasant or unpleasant, that I will never forget. After this year, everyone's gonna split up, ending up in different places, and who knows when we'll ever see each other again. Now I now what my sister meant when she asked me to treasure the time in secondary school, as I see that the experiences and memories there, can't be bought back no matter how much money you have (unless time travel is possible in the future lol). Sigh, I'd rather go through Form 4 (not 5, exams) again and again than part with my friends.

Although I'm thankful for the holidays, but I also lost something more valuable... The reality of life... Sigh...
