Prefect Dinner 2009

FINALLY, the day has arrived. 18/7/2009. PREFECT DINNER!!!

Before going to the dinner, I selected really simple clothes to wear, i.e. black long sleeved shirt, jeans, white silk tie and black Nike AF1s. I changed into my formal wear while listening to the Black Eyed Peas song "I Gotta Feeling" as I gotta feeling that it's gonna be a good, good night that night.

After a while, I managed to reach Tanahamas hotel with my dad sending me there. Already I saw some other fellow prefects, dressed for the occasion and looking sharp or beautiful in their formal wear. I went up to the 2nd floor, where the dinner was and met up with Osama and the others such as Colin and Ben Cheng. After registration, we each received a key chain.

After taking quite a lot of photos, we were told the dinner was about to begin. The emcees, Andrea and Yu Ing announced the arrival of Mr. Yong, Mr Sim and Mr. Wong Sing Wu. Their entry was accompanied with a drum roll played by Ming Chang. Mr. Yong and our head prefect, Andy Yip were invited to give their speeches (I don't think many people listened anyway). After the speeches, dinner was served and three Form 6 prefects (Allen, Ricky, Shau Der) kickstarted the entertainment with a dance.

The dance was good (Shau Der was the best dancer, BTW) and quite funny, as they arranged to have the music paused for a few times and were frozen in whatever position they were in. After the dance, the Zone 1 prefects paid tribute to Michael Jackson by singing "Heal the World".

After the performance by Zone 1, it was time for Zone 4 to perform. They performed a drama, titled "That's What Friends Are For". I'm not gonna sit here and type out the entire storyline, but I feel that the drama was quite hilarious, as you can expect from a drama that features Osama and Colin as the main actors. Actually I have the video of the drama but I was told by Osama not to share it with anybody else. Therefore, in order to respect his decision, I will not post the video here, so I'm sorry if you feel disappointed. But here are a few (shaky) pics taken from the drama:

After the drama, the next performance was by the Zone 3 prefects, and they performed two songs, "Seasons In the Sun" and 真夏的樱花. Funny Navien was so high, dancing around while singing the first song.

Roland performed next, singing the song "真情真爱". His voice was quite low, but his singing skills are still okay.

After the songs, it was time for the opening ceremony. The Excos and the teachers were invited on stage to conduct the ceremony. Our two head prefects, Andy Yip and Stella were responsible for opening and pouring the juice. When both of them were shaking the bottles in order to build up more gas, I felt that the scene looked like as if both of them were getting married, and they were opening champagne bottles. LOL.

All of us were shouting "Yam Seng" (to the couple??).

The "Lings" (as the emcees introduced), i.e. Gordon Ling and Wee Ling performed next. The brought us a song called "过火". To me, Gordon Ling sounded quite weird like he was using a falsetto.

Gordon Tio was the next performer and he brought us the song "我爱的人". I liked his skills and his song selection a lot and many prefects were singing along too.

After Gordon Tio's song, it was time for Zone Bebas to perform. They had the most performances, which included a fashion show, two magic shows (both which I don't really understand), a "mirror image" show, and lastly a dance where everyone was invited to join.

After the Zone Bebas's programs ended, Gordon X2 (Ling and Tio) brought us a duet of the very same song that Roland and Ben Cheng performed earlier.

In between, we were entertained by slide shows produced by Zone 5 and Fang Hau, all of which I didn't bother to take photos of. The slide show by Zone 5 was in the format of a news broadcast, and it was quite realistic and also featured advertisements. We all had a good laugh after watching it.

The two emcees were up next and they brought us a song called "Way Back Into Love".


Finally, it was our turn to perform the last programs for the night. My zone (Zone 2) sang two songs, "爱因为在心中" and "朋友".

After the performance, the dinner was over as well. But for us, it wasn't as it was PHOTO TIME!!! Here are a few photos I selected (as uploading photos takes a lot of time).

Finally, after taking all those photos (and receiving a couple of frustrated phone calls from my parents), I finally returned home at around 10.45 p.m, which is considered super duper late according to my family's standards, bringing home with me all the sweet memories of the wonderful night. I felt so over-excited that I couldn't even sleep until the next morning.

Sigh... I'm sure gonna miss becoming a prefect...
